Agency (DMA) is conducting a market survey for an
ecconomical/efficient/effective Configuration Asset Problem Management
System (CAPMS) capable of configuration, asset and problem management.
The CAPMS should consist of existing technology and work within DMA's
current communications infrastructure in a client/server environment.
The CAPMS should operate at minimal staff levels. Training for users
and system administrator on CAPMS operations should be available up to
the highest security level. Operational support for CAPMS should be
available up to the highest classification level. DMA expects CAPMS to
out perform the current configuration management, problem reporting
and asset tracking systems. (Technical inquiry is encouraged-see below)
Configuration management capabilities should support: baseline
identification, control processes for configured items and board
coordination, auditing, status accounting and documentation management.
Configured items will include, but not be limited to hardware,
firmware, software, and documentation. The Asset and problem management
capabilities should support work flow management. In addition, overall
CAPMS capability should include, but not be limited to, the ability
to: 1. Handle multilevel security for a minimum of four distinct levels
with a minimum of two sublevels per level; 2. Allow for system
administrator control of user/group accesses; 3. Interface with
geographically dispersed sites; 4. Provide a system administrator
defined read/ write control to data element level; 5. Support open
architecture and distributed multiple client/servers; 6. Migrate data
from current configuration management, trouble ticket, preventive
maintenance, and asset data bases; 7. Perform metric
collection/analysis of user defined elements; 8. Allow for
customization of forms, reports and queries; 9. Support a minimum of
300 concurrent users; 10. Provide archive and secondary storage
capability; 11. Manage multiple baselines for configured items; 12.
Provide on-line user help functions; 13. Perform trend/logistics
analysis, collect history data, and provide user defined audit trails;
14. Perform selective screen output; 15. Interface with other COTS
packages (MS WORD, PerForm Pro, etc.); 16. Scan hardcopy; 17. Provide
a E-mail capability; 18. Allow free text input, editing and output; 19.
Provide consistent word processing editing capabilities and spell
checking across all system functions; 20. Allow for software
maintenance (checking out of software modules, making code changes,
creating executables via the system); 21. Work folder processing; and
22. Asset tracking with full bar code capability. Sources which need
