The work will include the following: (Approx. quantities) Work consists of changing the fire protection system in two existing aircraft maintenance docks by retrofitting the existing Monitor System with a new underwing Inverted Deluge System (IDS). Work includes: removal of existing fire protection systems, sawcutting for removal and replacement of reinforced concrete slabs and valve pits, installation of new IDS fire protection valve pits and IDS nozzle pits, upsizing water supply piping, upsizing AFFF concentrate lines, remove/replace AFFF storage tanks, remove/replace and paint hangar doors, apply non-metallic light-reflective floor hardener and sealer to floor slabs, new underfloor electrical conduits, cathodic protection, electrical panels, intrusion detection, and grounding system. The estimated construction cost of this project is between $2,500,000 and $5,000,000. Contractor's Quality Control will be a requirement in this contract. The Contractor will be required to commence work within 10 days after notice to proceed and complete the work 570 calendar days after receipt of Notice to Proceed. Provisions will be included for liquidated damages in case of failure to complete the work in the time allowed. Performance and payment bonds will be required. Bid sets will be available on/a April 19, 1996. Half-size plans and specifications will be furnished upon request. All requests for solicitation packages should be made in writing no later than 14 days prior to bid opening. After such time, packages will be furnished if supply is available.
