99 -- PARTIAL SUPPORT FOR THE ANNUAL MEETING OF THE INSTITUTE OF HUMAN RETROVIROLOGY. The National Cancer Institute proposes to enter into a purchase order with the University of Maryland Foundation (UMF), Inc., an affiliate of University of Maryland System. The purpose of this acquisition is to affiliate the National Cancer Insitute (NCI) with the Annual Meeting of the Insitute of Human Retrovirology (IMR), which is housed and managed under the UMF. This annual meeting is an international gathering of scientists of the highest scientific caliber interested in retroviruses and associated diseases of animals and humans. Results of the meeting and presentations are disseinated to the scientific community. UMF currently has on it's staff Dr. Robert Gallo, a recognized expert in the area of human retroviruses and AIDS. This annual meeting is a continuation of the annual meetings initiated by Dr. Gallo in the early 1980s, when he was then a laboratory chief at the NCI. His involvement and presence of at this meeting is considered critical to the success of this meeting. Those offerors who feel they may qualifed for this effort must be able to demonstrate that in the past, their organizations have been able to attract world renown experts to attend various scientific meetings and also to present results of their research.
