abatement of asbestos containing material and the replacement of the
gas boiler units in the Student Storage/Power Plant building No. 180 at
the San Diego Job Corps Center located in Imperial Beach, California.
The work includes the removal of two existing 35 HP gas boilers and
related equipment; the removal of asbestos insulation from elbows and
disposal of the two boilers, which contain asbestos in the internal
lining of the units; and the installation of two gas fired boilers,
miscellaneous piping and control wiring. The period of performance for
construction is 175 calendar days from receipt of notice to proceed.
The estimated cost range of construction is between $100,000.00 and
$250,000.00. Initial Plans and Specifications will be available on
April 15, 1996, only from the Architect/Engineer firm of The Mele
Architectural Group, 11766 Papagallo Court, San Diego, California

Collect calls will not be accepted. It is emphasized that requests for
plans and specifications should be directed the A/E firm listed above
to ensure proper handling of requests. Plans and specifications will
be made available for pick-up at the A/E's office, or may be arranged
for delivery at an additional charge. Any additional shipping and/or
handling charges must be pre-paid and COD requests will not be
accepted. Requests must be in writing and will be answered on a
first-come, first-served basis until the initial supply is exhausted.
For requests made after the initial supply is exhausted, a
non-refundable fee not to exceed the actual cost of reproduction of the
IFB documents (to be determined by the Contracting Officer,) plus a
shipping charge based on each individual request (if applicable,) will
be required in order to obtain the IFB documents. Pre-Bid Walk-Thru is
scheduled for May 2, 1996, at 10:00 a.m. (local) at the San Diego Job
Corps Center. This will be the only opportunity to review the job site
prior to submission of bids. Bid-opening is scheduled for May 22,
1996, at 1:00 p.m. (local) at the A/E's office. (NOTE: THIS IS A 100%
SMALL BUSINESS SET ASIDE ACQUISITION. The Standard Industrial
Classification (SIC) code for this acquisition is 1711. The small
