Building 59 is being renovated to improve the academic operations of the National Defense University. Existing spaces will be renovated to provide a lecture room seminar rooms, multi purpose space, exercise and locker room areas, faculty offices, and administrative and student room spaces. Renovation will include demolition, relocation of existing partitions, installation of new lighting, installation of new ceilings, doors, and casework, mechanical, plumbing and electrical system upgrades, installation of exterior fire egress stairs, and upgrade of finishes. Standard Industrial Code is 1542, size standard is $17 million. Estimated cost of proposed maintenance is between $5,000,000 and $10,000,000.
