29 -- THRUST BEARING OIL COOLERS, HYDROELECTRIC GENERATOR UNITS, LOWER COLORADO DAMS FACILITIES OFFICE, HOOVER DAM, BOULDER CANYON PROJECT, ARIZONA-NEVADA SOL 1425-6-SI-30-12090 POC Ms. Sonja Poindexter, Procurement Technician, at 702-293-8569; Synopsis No. 96-17 The Bureau of Reclamation has a requirement to design, fabricate, and deliver fifteen (15) oil immersion thrust bearing oil coolers for Thrust Bearing Oil Coolers, Hydroelectric Generator Units, Lower Colorado Dams Facilities Office, Hoover Dam, Boulder Canyon Project, Arizona - Nevada. The material or equipment being designed, fabricated, and delivered is required for the cooling of generator thrust bearings used in the production of electrical power at Hoover Dam. Final location for delivery will be the Bureau of Reclamation's Central Warehouse, which is located approximately 7 miles, via U.S. Highway 93, northeast of Boulder City in Clark County, Nevada. The hydroelectric generators were designed, manufactured, and installed between 1936 and 1961 by three independent companies; Allis-Chalmers, General Electric, and Westinghouse. The individual designs haveexpected variations but many similarities as well. The contractor shall develop one common design thrust bearing oil cooler of adequate dimensions to accommodate units with the smallest opening size (diameter and depth of oil tub), while being of sufficient size to adequately cool units with larger size openings. The coil bundle forms a ring shape, measuring approximately 10 feet outside diameter by 8 feet inside diameter by 2 feet high. Half-ring replacement sections are preferred to simplify shipping and for ease of installation. Location of supply and drain line connections vary between the generators so make-up adapter pipe sections shall be custom designed and fabricated to accommodate the one standard coil design. Installation will be performed by others during the times that the generators are out of service for regularly scheduled maintenance. Final location for delivery will be the Bureau of Reclamation's Central Warehouse, which is located approximately 7 miles, via U.S. Highway 93, northeast of Boulder City in Clark County, Nevada.
