A -- PREPARATION OF BASEMENT MEMBRANE REAGENT MATRIGEL SOL RFP NLM 96-203/VMS POC Valerie M. Syed, Contract Specialist/(301) 496-6546. The National Institute of Dental Research (NIDR) intends to negotiate on a sole-source basis with Collaborative Biomedical Products, Inc., 2 Oak Park, Bedford, Massachusetts 07130 under the authority 41 U.S.C. 253 (c)(1) and FAR 6.302-1(b)(1) for a two year fixed-price contract to furnish the necessary services, personnel, material, equipment, and facilities, not otherwise provided by the Government, to prepare sterile Matrigel and sterile 20% ammonium sulfate out of Matrigel, each at 12 mg/ml, with biological activity such that human umbilical endothelial cells can form capillary-like structures in vitro in 18 hours with the Matrigel, and salivary gland cells can form acini in 48 hours on the 20% ammonium sulfate out of Matrigel. Collaborative Biomedical Products, Inc. is the only organization that holds a license from the Government for the use of the intellectual property rights and is the only approved source authorized to produce the reagent Matrigel. This acquisition is being managed for the National Institute of Dental Research by the Office of Acquisitions Management at the National Library of Medicine. The period of performance shall begin on or about August 31, 1996. This notice of intent is not a request for competitive proposals.
