Cox (904) 232-1215 (Site Code DACW17) The project will restore and provide a modern historic habitat for fisheries and wildlife. The recommended plan consists of removing exotic vegetation, grading down to wetland elevations by removing dredged material, excavating tidal channels and ponds, and planting native wetland and upland vegetation. Dredged material, generated through project construction, will be removed from the island and placed in a nearby anoxic dredged hole located approximately 2 miles from the project. The hole has a depth of -17 feet MLW. The project will result in the restoration of approximately 11.0 acres of mangrove and spartina wetland habitat. In addition to this work, associated upland restoration, including a 4.0 acre protective berm and 3.7 acre buffer area, will be constructed to provide shoreline stabilization and a vegetative buffer on Munyon Island. The restoration of 9.0 acres of submerged wetland habitat within an anoxic dredged hole will also provide environmental benefits as a result of the project. Heavy construction and marine equipment will be required to perform work on this project, including but not limited to barges, scows, front end loaders, dozers, and dump trucks Pre-Solicitation Notice will be issued on or about 05 Mar 96.
