This Purchase Description (PD) specification establishes the requirements for Single Mode Fiber optic Cable, White Sands Missile Range (WSMR), New Mexico. SECTION 2.0 - APPLICABLE DOCUMENTATION. The contractor shall deliver Fiber Optic Communication Cable that meets the specifications in REA-PE-90 with added specifications in Paragraph 3.1 through 3.17 to satisfy the essential requirements of the Government set forth in this PD: 3.1 - Single Mode Fiber Optic Cable, 8.3/125 micron nominal core/cladding diameter with 10 micron +/- 1 micron mode field core diameter. 3.2 - 0.4 decibel (dB) Maximum Attenuation, per kilometer at 1311.5 manometers, 0.3 dB Maximum Attenuation, per kilometer at 1550 manometers +/- 20 manometers. 3.3 - Operation, 2.4 gigabit. 3.4 - Wavelength, 1311.5 manometer primary and 1550 manometer secondary. 3.5 - Picosecond/nanometer/kilometer 2.6 maximum dispersion at 1311.5 manometers. Zero dispersion wavelength is 1311.5 manometer 10 manometers. 3.6 - Operating and storage temperature at -40 degrees to +70 degrees Celsius. 3.7 - Tensile strength at 2,700 newton. 3.8 - Jelly filled moisture retardant. 3.9 - Dielectric glass reinforced plastic (GRP) center core member. 3.10 - Minimum bend radius: a. SECTION 4.0 - QUALITY ASSURANCE PROVISION. The contractor shall comply with the inspection articles of the contract. Cable data sheets shall be furnished with each reel of fiber optic cable with a dB loss per km at 1311.5 and 1550 manometers for each individual fiber. SECTION 5.0 - PACKAGING. Preservation, packaging, packing and marking shall be as specified in the procurement document. Cable shall be delivered on nonreturnable wooden reels. SECTION 6.0 - NOTES. None.
