D -- WSR88 INFORMATION DISSEMINATION SERVICES (NIDS) SOL 52WCNW606050JD DUE 051696 POC Joseph D'Felio (816)426-7267 The U.S. Department of Commerce, NOAA has a requirement to provide WSR-88D Information Dissemination Services (NIDS). These services will be used by the National Weather Service to provide weather analyses, forecasts and warnings involving a wide range of atmospheric systems affecting the United States and surrounding oceans. The contractor will have access to all commissioned WSR-88D radars and shall be responsible for the distribution of products to their users. The contractor shall be required to supply a system capable of acquiring all standard, unaltered NIDS products in real time. The data shall be ingested automatically without human intervention. The system shall be capable of acquiring any combination or subset of standard, unaltered NIDS products and provide for methods of specifying which data sets should be routinely ingested. Storage of data shall be for up to 15 data periods. The system display shall allow an operator to select the radar sites or products to be acquired by the system and use high resolution, national-scale mosaics of reflectivity or other value added products. This system shall act as a server for making acquired data sets available to the Government via the LAN utilizing TCP/IP protocol (Ethernet or FIDDI). The contractor shall be responsible for installation and training. Bid documents will be available on or about April 16, 1996.
