COMMERCE BUSINESS DAILY ISSUE OF APRIL 3,1996 PSA#1565OASIS INFORMATION (NAS INTERFACE SIMULATOR) The Federal Aviation
Administration's (FAA), Flight Service Stations Product Team for the
Operational and Supportability Implementation System (OASIS) is
providing a National Airspace System (NAS) interface simulator as a
developmental aid for vendors interested in the OASIS acquisition. The
use of the simulator is not mandatory for OASIS contract award
consideration. Vendors who elect to use the simulator do so at their
own risk. The Government will, in good faith, provide an operational
interface simulator. The Government will provide to NIST X.25
certified-vendors, as verified by the FAA, an information package that
contains the sequence of events, such as the following, for use of the
simulator: (1) Details on how to obtain a preprogrammed CODEX 3600
modem: (2) FAATC schedule for NAS NADIN II Packet Switching Network
(PSN) validation testing; (3) NADIN II Test Node ports for End-to-End
(Loop Back) development; (4) Recorded Service ``B'' (Flight Plan) data
via a NADIN II Test Node port; and (5) Recorded Service ``A'' (WMSCR
Weather Text) data via a NADIN II Test Node port. It is anticipated
that simulator usage time allotments will be distributed as
FAA-controlled windows of opportunities each day. The sequence of
events, availability, support, and general simulator service are
subject to change without prior notification. Simulator/NADIN II Test
Node access security and time monitoring has been implemented via the
CODEX Modem Access Controller system. Vendors will be able to request
their own passwords. Vendors interested in receiving the information
package must submit their NIST X.25 certification documents to the
OASIS Contracting Officer for FAA verification. Any questions
concerning this SPECIAL NOTICE or the OASIS project shall be directed
to the OASIS Contracting Officer either by INTERNET (address:
pgreen@mail.hq.faa.gov) or U.S. mail at the following address: Federal
Aviation Administration, ATTN: Ms. Patricia A. Green, ASU-350, Market

(Telephone number: (202) 376-6289; FAX number: (202) 724-0624). This
special notice and another file, ``sim_x25.doc'' concerning the X.25
HW/SW used in the simulator, are accessible on the OASIS INTERNET
mailbox at www.faa.gov/. From the FAA Home Page, tier down through
