POC POC Wendy L. Huggins, Contract Specialist, 208-526-2808; Brad
Bauer, Contracting Officer, 208-526-0090 The U.S. Department Of Energy,
Idaho Operations Office (DOE-ID), intends to purchase a Low Background
Lung Detector to be used in DOE's Laboratory Accreditation Program.
The detector is a 70mm diameter lo-ax germanium detector to determine
low energy radio nuclides in lungs. The detector shall be made in the
coaxial design from N-type germanium material and have an energy range
from 3 keV to 2 meV. The crystal diameter shall be 70 mm providing an
active area of no less than 3800 mm squared and its depth shall be 30
mm. The unit shall be mounted as a down looker with the preamp mounted
on the horizontal portion of the cryostat arm. Since it is going to be
used as a lung counting detector, it must be constructed of materials
with ultra low background properties. This announcement is not a
Request for Quotes (RFQ). The written quotations will be available
April 18, 1996. All requests for copies of the RFQ must be submitted in
writing (facsimile preferred) to Wendy L. Huggins, Contract Specialist,
