R -- MEDICAL TRANSCRIPTION SERVICES POC Contact Point, Mary Cray, (503)273-5375 Medical transcription services to the VA Medical Center, Portland, Oregon for a twelve month period with four (4) option years. Performance of the contract will require the contractor to staff and supervise the transcription unit (located at the Vancouver, Washington division) to meet all work assignments and turnaround requirements. (Estimated annual line item count is 12,992,712.) The work required by this contract consists of providing medical transcription in English. Material transcribed includes a high incidence of technical terminology and requires a wide knowledge of the specialized vocabulary peculiar to a wide variety of medical subjects in the field of medicine and surgery. Material is dictated by many different physicians and others requiring adaption to variations in accents, speech, tone of voice, volume, delivery, pronunciation and enunciation. Dictation will be transcribed from government-owned Sony RD-7000 Central Dictation System and cassettes from additional areas. (This system will be upgraded or replaced in the near future.) Word processing will be done on a word processing system and electric typewriters. Synopsis is published to determine the availability of commercial medical transcription services for the requirements of the VA Medical Center, Portland. Interested firms are to advise, in writing, their interest in providing this service no later than May 6, 1996. This is not a request for proposal and no award will be made based on this announcement. Any subsequent solicitation will be published in the Commerce Business Daily.
