The work involves construction of two new dormitories (25,400 gross square feet each) and a new print shop/warehouse building (22,600 gsf), the removal and replacement of existing HVAC systems in eight (8) existing buildings, removal and disposal of asbestos containing-materials from piping in fifteen (15) existing buildings and pipe re-insulation, and demolition of Building No. 320 (2,700 gsf). The new construction includes existing utility relocation from overhead to underground in the project area, installation of site drainage, site grading, site lighting, and landscaping. The HVAC replacements include the demolition of the existing mechanical equipment, installation of new ductwork and the repair of existing finishes where damaged by the work. The construction completion date of the project is estimated to be 476 calendar days from Notice to Proceed. The estimated cost range for construction is between $5 million and $10 million. Plans and Specification will be available on or about April 19, 1996, only from the Architect/Engineering firm of Milton Powell & Partners, 5207 McKinney Avenue, Dallas, Texas 75205. It is emphasized that requests for plans and specifications should be directed to the A/E firm listed above to ensure proper handling of requests. Requests must be in writing and a $270 refundable bid-deposit is required. This bid-deposit must be in the form of a certified check, cashier's check, or money-order, made payable to the U.S. Department of Labor, and submitted to the A/E firm at the time of the request. Plans and Specifications will be made available for pick-up at the A/E's office, or may be arranged for delivery at an additional charge. Any additional shipping and/or handling charges must be pre-paid and COD requests will not be accepted. Requests will be answered on a first-come first-serve basis until the initial supply is exhausted. For requests made after the initial supply is exhausted, a non-refundable fee not to exceed the actual cost of reproduction of the IFB documents (to be determined by the Contracting Officer) plus a shipping charge based on individual request (if applicable) will be required in order to obtain the IFB documents. Pre-Bid Walk-Thru is scheduled for May 6, 1996, at 2:00 P.M. local time at the Center. Bid Opening is scheduled for June 4, 1996, at 2:00 P.M. local time at the A/E's office.
