The Postal Service is soliciting for offers for the Electrical Service Upgrades at the San Mateo, CA Information Service Center. This is a owned facility. This building is currently being served by two separate utility services, one located at the north end of the center and one at the south end. This project involves the upgrading of the electrical service to the main switchboard at the north end of the center, the removal of the utility service at the south end of the center, and the back-feeding of the existing main switchboard at the south end of the center from the main switchboard at the north end of the center. Estimated construction cost is $300,000 to $400,000. Responsible firms with excellent experience and qualifications are invited to obtain a solicitation package. Request for the solicitation must be in writing - no telephone request will be accepted. There is a non-refundable charge of $25.00 for plans and specifications made payable to ''USPS Disbursing Officer''. Determination of Responsibility will be based on the following factors: (a) Demonstrated track record of successful performance on similar contracts in the locality of the project over a period of the last 5 years, (b) Adequate financial strength and resources, (c) Proximity of the home office to the area being served, (d) Contractor must be able to perform on the site, with its own organization, work equivalent to at least 12 percent of the total amount of work to be performed under the contract. There will be a preproposal conference on April 16, 1996 at 11:00 at the San Mateo ICS, 2700 Campus Drive, San Mateo, CA (meet in lobby). After meeting the above qualification standards, award will be made to the responsible firm based on price and price related factors. Offers will not be publicly opened. Offerors are encouraged to submit proposals via U S Postal Service First Class or Express Mail.
