Z -- LOSS PREVENTION UPGRADE ELECTRICAL SUBSTATIONS. Contact: David Dale, Sr. Contracts Specialist, 516-344-3199. This contract will be set aside for bidding by small businesses only. SIC code 1731 applies. Work consists of the Loss Prevention Upgrades Electrical Substations LI-MEL-FS - Modifications to approximately twelve (12) existing BNL substations to bring them into compliance with Factory Mutual and IEEE 980 compliance. The upgrades shall include all materials and labor required for proper installation and operation. Items include shall be the addition of area grading and site preparation, underground electrical raceway manholes, concrete foundations, concrete containment pit, fire walls, fencing, cable installation of substation and distribution type transformers, HV/LV switchgear, HV/LV Terminations, exothermic grounding, testing and startup associated with subject equipment. Contractor will be required to move the electrical equipment provided by BNL from BNL's staging area to the individual substation areas. All work will be awarded on a single contract. Estimated procurement and installation costs is $600,000 to $800,000. Estimated construction time is 30 weeks. Bid documents will be available on or about 18 May 1996. A 20% bid bond is required. Payment and performance bonds are required after contract award. Brookhaven is charging a non-refundable fee of $100 for bid documents. Personal checks made out to ``Brookhaven National Laboratory'' are acceptable. Checks may be sent out immediately and bid packages will be mailed upon availability.
