The Air Force Institute of Technology (AFIT), located at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base in Ohio, has a requirement for non-personal contract support services for information resources. The scope of this requirement involves communications and computer systems hardware maintenance and information resources support services. The AFIT network consists of 1000 heterogeneous machines, and installs and maintains the software on the network servers, print servers, UNIX computers, VMS computers, and other computer hardware used to support AFIT'S mission. AFIT/SC maintains over 10 database applications to track all student faculty and staff functions in AFIT. Maintenance service will include remedial & preventive maintenance, installation, relocation, reconfiguration, etc. Information resource support services include various full-time on-site labor categories for database applications, re-engineering and maintenance, as well as system integration, data conversion, system trade-off studies, software evaluation, etc. An Ombudsman has been established for this acquisition. The only purpose of the Ombudsman is to receive and communicate serious concerns from potential offerors when an offeror prefers not to use established channels to communicate his/her concerns during the proposal development phase of this acquisition.
