Competitive procurement for an ultransonic flaw detection unit brand name or equal to the Krautkramer Branson USN 52 (P/N 022-506-550). Basic quantity of 100 units with the option of an additional 300. Two FAT units due 30 days after award. The system is used to perform crack and corrosion detection, thickness measurements, and delamination/debond detection on metal and composites (i.e. Aluminum, Titanium, Graphite/Epoxy and Carbon/Epoxy) on Navy Aircraft. The system shall work in conjunction with all existing Navy Ultrasonic transducers and transducer cables. Any unit considered for this procurement is to have been commercially available for 15 months and have produced at least 500 units in this time frame. Minimum acceptable criteria: Battery source integral to main unit. Must use batteries currently existing in Naval Inventory (Preferably type C or D Alkaline). Demonstrates operating range of at least 0 to 120 degrees Fahrenheit without degradation. Integral batteries must las a minimum of four (4) hours at 60 degrees and three (3) hours at 0 degrees Fahrenheit. Capable of operating from an external 115 Vac source. Unit will be 100% compatible with Navy transducers and transducer cables (direct connection to BNC style connectors). Water resistant. Analog/digital output for interfacing with other inspection systems. Audible and visual flaw gate alarms. Digital thickness measurement. RF mode and flaw gates. Capability to store and recall a minimum of 15 inspection setups with alphanumeric identification of various sets. Screen must be visible in varying degrees of sunlight at a maximum distance of two feet from the operator.
