COMMERCE BUSINESS DAILY ISSUE OF APRIL 8,1996 PSA#1568The Center for Post FTS2000 Procurement (TQ), 7525 Colshire Drive (Stop
Z397), McLean, VA 22102-7492 D -- HARDWARE/SOFTWARE RECOMMENDATIONS TO SUPPORT PREPARATION OF COST
PROPOSALS FOR THE TELECOMMUNICATIONS SERVICES (TS) ACQUISITION Contact
Contracting Officer, Barbara R. Norsworthy, (703) 610-2805. The Federal
government currently satisfies its intercity telecommunications
requirements through the Federal Telecommunications System 2000
(FTS2000) contracts. The contracts will expire in December 1998. To
provide for telecommunications services to government users in the
post-FTS2000 environment, the government intends to release, in the
near future, a final Request for Proposals (RFP) for Telecommunications
Services (TS) (draft RFP KEF-95-BN-000A). Interested parties should
peruse the CBD for future information regarding release of this TS RFP.
The government intends to make software to support the preparation of
cost proposals available to potential offerors for the
Telecommunications Services acquisition. The government will be
utilizing the following hardware to hold the Post-FTS2000 traffic and
price data, and to cost-evaluate the different Telecommunications
Services bids: One Sun Sparc20 with 512 megabytes of RAM and two RAID
systems (one with 31 gigabytes and the other with 63 gigabytes of disk
space) plus 40 gigabytes of non-RAID SCSI disk drives for the
price/traffic database system; and one Sun Sparc2000 with three
gigabytes of RAM and 50 gigabytes of SCSI disk space for
cost/evaluation. The database system will be ORACLE 7.2 with parallel
query, PL SQL and SQL PLUS. The government recommends that offerors for
the Telecommunications Services acquisition have at least the following
hardware configuration if they intend to use the government-provided
software: One Sparc1000 with one gigabyte of RAM and 50 gigabytes of
SCSI or RAID disk space, or a combination of SCSI/RAID totaling 50
gigabytes, and 4mm DAT tape reader. The government also recommends
ORACLE 7.2 with parallel query, PL SQL and SQL PLUS for the database
system. This configuration is based in part on a maximum of 85000
individually-priced Point of Presence (POP) pairs per service. An
increase or decrease in the POP pairs might require more or less disk
space. Questions concerning this notice may be direct to Barbara
Norsworthy, Contracting Officer, on (703) 610-2805. (093) Loren Data Corp. http://www.ld.com (SYN# 0030 19960405\D-0005.SOL)
