equipment necessary to perform routine Dockside and Repairs to the
USCGC TAHOMA (WMEC 908). The work which may be performed includes but
may not be limited to the following minimum items: 1. Renew Bulkhead
Plating 2. Renew Watertight Door 3. Clean & Inspect excess steam
condensers 4. Renew Engineroom Ventilation Ducting 5. Install A/C
Cofferdam Deck Drains 6. Overhaul & Test F/O Valve manifolds 7. Renew
Ballast Tank cross connect piping (Ship Alt 270-C-078) 8. Replace
Potable Water Tank Level Indicators (Ship Alt 270-B-100). 9. Overhaul
Hanger Drive Mechanisms and Hanger Door. 10. Renew Deck Coverings 11.
Reconfigure Shipboard Supply Storage Space (Ship Alt 270-A-099). 12.
Relocate MK26 Machine Gun Mounts (Ship Alt 270-A-073 13. Provide
Temporary Logistics. The proposed contract will also contain indefinite
items including but not limited to: 1. Additional Temporary Logistics.
USCGC TAHOMA's homepier is New Bedford, MA. USCGC TAHOMA's
availability is scheduled for on or about 07 October 1996. The
performance period is forty-nine (49) calendar days. Large and Small
Businesses are encouraged to submit bids. There availability is
restricted to the cutter's homepier in New Bedford, MA. Solicitation
(IFB) is anticipated to be issued on or about May 07, 1996. There will
be a non-refundable charge of $100.00 required in the form of a
certified check or money order made payable to the United States Coast
Guard for requested drawings and publications. For Minority,
Women-Owned and Disadvantaged Business Enterprises: The Department of
Transportation (DOT) Office of Small and Disadvantaged Business
Utilization has programs to assist minority, women-owned and
disadvantaged business enterprises to acquire short-term working
capital and bonding assistance for transportation-related contracts.
Loans are available under the DOT Short Term Lending Program (STLP) at
prime interest rates up to $500,000 per contract to provide accounts
receivable financing. DOT Bonding Assistance Program enables firms to
apply for bid, performance and payment bonds up to $500,000 per
contract. DOT provides an 80 percent guaranty on the bond amount to a
