The Coastal Systems Station, Panama City, FL intends to award a firm fixed-price contract on a sole-source basis to Datasonics, Inc, Cataumet, MA, for one Side Look Sonar, model SIS 1000, and associated services. This sonar equipment will be used in the fabrication of a second test platform identical to the original test platform currently in use. The Model SIS 1000 side look sonar was selected as the original test platform under competitive conditions. Use of any other side look sonar would require extensive redesign of the test platform to integrate the new side look sonar for control and data processing; therefore a sole source award is appropriate under FAR 6.302-1.
