System. (2) Overview: The System is to form a cabling distribution
system used for connection of voice terminals and data terminals
installed in multiple remote facilities (including permanent and
temporary buildings) with their corresponding network equipment,
thereby providing a flexible support to modification in each network as

terminal types to be connected include star topology voice terminals
(ordinary subscriber telephones, PBX telephones, facsimile terminals,
DSUs, etc.) and data terminals composed of token rings and ATM-LANs.
Note that data communication equipment items (routers, hubs, MAUs,
etc.) for use n the token ring and the ATM-LAN are not included in the
System. In addition, the System will be required to satisfy the
following conditions. Capabilities are required to provide flexible
support to expansion and migration of terminal equipment. Application
of safety- and reliability-enhanced systems are required in the cables
distributed in crucial terminals. All cabling components comply with
Category 5 specifications. Backbone cables use Category 5 UTP cables
and optical fiber cables (62.5 micro-meter/125 micro-meter).
Performance characteristics of the cables (near-end crosstalk,
attenuation, etc.) must comply with EIA/TIA-568 (commercial buildings
communication cabling standard in USA). (3) Contents of RFI: NTT is
