each. Battery shall meet the following salient characteristics: Battery
cells, silver zinc, secondary type, nominal ampere hour capacity shall
be three ampere hours at the one hour (C/1) discharge rate at 70
degrees farenheit. Cells shall be capable of supplying the rated ampere
hour capacity for a minimum of fifteen discharge/charge cycles. Cells
shall be furnished in the dry charged state. (After filling with
electrolyte, cells shall be ready for discharge following the
prescribed soak period.) Cells shall have a minimum ''wet life'' of six
months after filling with electrolyte. Cells shall be furnished with
filler kits, including electrolyte and all necessary hardware required
for assembling the cells into a complete multicell battery
configuration. All hardware shall be nonmagnetic. Cells shall have the
following nominal dimensions: 1.72 inches wide, 0.59 inch deep, and
2.86 inches high including terminals. Cells shall be for space flight
use and shall be capable of successful operation without electrolyte
leakage under the following vibration environment: Three-axis sine --
4 octaves/minute sweep rate: 7.3 IP's constant velocity - 5 to 89 hz;
10.5 G - 89 to 800 hz; 15 G - 800 to 2000 hz. Three-axis random -- 20
seconds/axis: 19 G - (0.18G x 0.18G/hz 20 to 2000 hz. This synopsis is
being issued to solicit quotations from vendors desiring to furnish
the above described item to the Government at the address set forth
below. Written quotations in response to this Request for Quotation
(RFQ) should be submitted to the attention of the individual(s) at the
address set forth above not later than 4:30 p.m. Eastern on May 3,
1996. No separate Request for Quotation will be issued. Delivery to
NASA, Goddard Space Flight Center, Wallops Flight Facility, Wallops
Island, VA 23337. Delivery is required 45 days after award of a
purchase order. FOB destination pricing is requested. Vendors quoting
on an equal to the Yardney part number referenced above should furnish
the manufacturer and part number for the battery they propose to
furnish, and forward spec sheet/ descriptive literature with their
quote. Award is anticipated to be made within 7 calendar days after the
closing date of the RFQ and will be made to the responsible firm
submitting the lowest responsive quote. Quotes may be submitted by fax
