The Coastal Systems Station, Dahlgren Div, Naval Surface Warfare Center, Panama City, Florida intends to award a sole source Purchase Order to Universal Plastics Corporation, Chicopee, MA for the fabrication of plastic battery trays. There have been extensive design studies to improve the service life and maintainability of the SEAL Delivery Vehicle (SDV) electrical battery system. The initial trays were subjected to extensive tests to confirm their durability, reliability, and fit and were found to be suitable for the intended application. It is essential that the production parts be of the same design as those which successfully passed the test program. The tray design is proprietary to Universal Plastics Corp. and they are the only known source that can meet this requirement. Delivery is to be made within 45 days after award of the purchase order.
