402-2163. Solicitation for upgrading the PCU, 2 East of Building 10.
Work shall be inclusive of, but not limited to, the following: Per
construction drawings and associated specifications, abate asbestos at
selected locations. Provide fire alarm and sprinkler systems (Fire
alarm speakers and boxes are government furnished). Fire stop all
penetrations of corridor walls and selected slab penetrations. Install
new corridor doors and frames if necessary (Handicap hardware on all
doors that access patient area). Replace lens and tubes and clean all
existing lighting fixtures in patient rooms. Expand the existing
telephone closet in the north corridor, provide a 4'' conduit from it
to the cable tray in the PCU corridor. Also provide a new oxygen line
in the corridor, that must be connected to the central raiser and to
comply with NFPA 99 requirements. All new telephone and eletric wiring
shall be recessed. Weather master/indication units in patient rooms
and the solarium shall be upgraded by replacing their existing valves,
grills and thermostats. In existing bathrooms, provide new
shower-heads and new valves and handles. Install new carpet and upgrade
finishes in corridors. Remove all abandon pipes and ducts in corridor
ceiling. This is a metric job. Contract performance period will be 180
calendar days from the notice to proceed. The magnitude of this
Fixed-Price construction contract is estimated to be between
$250,000.00 and 500,000.00. The basis of this award will be the low
Base Bid which is subject to availability of funds. Plans and
specifications will be available on or about May 6, 1996 from the Bid
Custodian, Building 13, Room G800 Rockville Pike, Bethesda, Maryland at
a non-refundable cost of $55.00. Payment must be in the form of
Cashier's check, Money Order or Certified check only. A letter on
company letterhead must be enclosed indicating the address to which all
agenda and communication should be transmitted. Request for IFB must
cite the IFB No. 263-96-B(CP)-0216. Telephone request will not be
accepted. The Prebid Conference/Site visit will be held on May 20, 1996
at 1:00 p.m. on the NIH campus in Building 13, Room G-800. Bids will be
due on or about June 6, 1996. Further information concerning the bid
opening will be noted in the IFB. The Standard Industry Code (SIC) for
this project is 1542, $17M over the past three years. THIS PROCUREMENT
