The National Library of Medicine intends to negotiate on a sole source basis with Box Hill Systems Corportation, 161 Avenue of the Americas, New York, New York 10013; to purchase a Box Hill RAID Controller 5300/MOD Box 5000, part no. AP4-08-2CFW2D7R8. This Disk Array must include the following: 32MB Write Cache per Controller, and 2 Luns - One (1) Hot Spare per Lun. In addition, the Box Hill Array must have RAID Level 0, 3, and 5 support; redundant, controller with auto failover; singel or dual port interface; all utilities for remote monitoring and management; no drivers or patches to UNIX kernel required, full SCSI-2, including tagged command queueing; support for hot spare drive(s); write cache available; dual auto failover; fully hot-swappable power supplies; necessary terminator(s) and cable(s); and a reack-mounting kit must be available. Firms interested must be able to supply all items listed and meet all specifications in order to be considered. Responses should sufficiently demonstrate the firm's ability to meet the Government's requirements. If a response indicates a competitive acquisition would be more advantageous to the Government, a formal solicitation may be issued. No solicitation document exists, therefore an analysis will be made on the basis of information received in response to this notice.
