Administration (NHTSA) intends to have a contractor to: 1) Identify
various types of health care providers who come into contact with older
drivers who are experiencing functional ''limitations'' association
with aging that are affecting their ability to drive, 2) Locate health
care providers that would most likely work cooperatively with the
functionally limited drivers and hold discussions with the Contracting
Officer's Technical Representative (COTR) and allied health
professionals, 3) Determine how these health care providers could
become more involved in advising their patients to curtail their
driving or report those patients to the Department of Motor Vehicle
(DMV), 4) identify what information or materials are needed by those
health care providers in order to deal effectively with the driving
decisions and the capabilities of their functionally limited patients
and 5) Develop draft samples of those materials for field testing. It
is anticipated that a Cost Reimbursement type contract will be awarded
for eighteen (l8) months. The solicitation will be mailed to those

announcement. The anticipated issue date of the solicitation is April
