The objectives of this effort are to: 1)Develop a behavioral model that predicts how drivers use of a wide range in-vehicle information systems will effect the driving task, 2)Identify a limited set of human factors design tools that may be programmed into a integrated public domain computer software package for use with the behavioral model and in designing in-vehicle information systems, and 3)Develop a prototype software program to be placed in the public domain and using the behavioral model and some, if not all of the indentified human factors tools. The prototype software shall be viewed as a demonstration of the feasibility and value of the concept. All responsible sources may submit an offer.
