F -- MANUAL RELEASE AND PRE-COMMERCIAL THINNING Sol R5-05-96-033, contact A. Wargin, Contracting Officer, C. Laws, 916/842-6131. Project consists of manual release on an estimated 111 acres, and pre-commercial thinning of an estimated 58 acres on the Salmon River Ranger District, Klamath National Forest, Siskiyou County, California. Manual Release consists of removal of competing vegetation around desirable conifers by cutting brush and hardwoods with chain saws at 125 release trees per acre. Pre-commercial thinning consists of falling, lopping, and bucking excess conifers to reduce stocking levels. Units will be marked for leave trees (LTM). All conifers over 2 feet tall and not marked with red paint shall be cut. Contract time: 25 calendar days. Date for receipt of bids has not been established, but is estimated to be in mid May, 1996.
