experienced, and responsible firms interested in furnishing all tasks
associated with a complete food service operation for the Department of
Veterans Affairs (VA), Martinez, California. The VA is in the process
of constructing a brand new 120 Bed Nursing Home Facility on the
Martinez campus. We are in the process of testing the market for firms
capable of supplying food, food preparation, serving, and all other
tasks associated with the business of food preparation and sanitation.
The facility is a brand new facility with an estimated capacity of 120
patients at its full capacity. The Government's role will be to supply
a Dietitian and menu planning. We are looking for a contractor to run
the daily food operations, order, prepare, serve and clean 365 days a
year including all holidays. The VA at this time is requesting
interested firms to supply us with information as to the availability
or feasibility as to the cost per meal based on whether the contractor
is to use on-site Government kitchen or off-site contractor supplied
food preparation area, disposable china or not, whether contractor
proposes disposable utensils or not. The above costs are to be based on
a requirement to order, prepare, serve, and clean for up to three meals
a day and a snack. It is anticipated that the nursing home occupancy
will be on an average of 80%. This is not a request for full blown
proposals nor is the VA prepared to issue a solicitation or contract
out for these services at this time. The VA may elect to do this
requirement in house. Please do not submit full technical and pricing
proposals. Please submit cost per meal if feasible and with the
information available at this time. Please note that this request is
only for the VA to plan accordingly and firms will be not be held
contractually liable for their responses, nor is the VA liable to award
