Z -- RECONSTRUCTION OF QUINCY RESERVOIR DAM, BRAINTREE, MASSACHUSETTS SOL DACW33-96-B-0026 DUE 053096 POC Jerry Nunziato, 617-647-8424 Correction: The work consists of removing existing dam's earthen embankment, portions of the dam's concrete rubble core wall, and the existing concrete outlet works, comprising about 100,000 CY of excavation work. Prior to removal of the existing dam, the work includes draining the reservoir, preparation of the reservoir area for the stockpiling of materials, diversion of water, and construction of haul routes. The new work consists of reconstructing the earthen dam embankment, a dike, and constructing a new concrete outlet works and spillway structure. The new concrete structure consists of about 2,300 CY reinforced concrete materials. The earthen dam reconstruction consists of about 110,000 CY of fill material. A significant portion of the fill material is from reuse of material from the existing dam. Other work includes installing rock anchors, rock excavation, pressure grouting of grout curtains in fractured rock, and hand preparation of foundation bedrock surfaces. Related work includes erosion control, a precast concrete bridge over the spillway and restoration of areas disturbed during construction. The work will be phased construction with critical schedule milestones. Estimated cost of the work is between $5,000,000.00 and $10,000,000.00. Work shall be completed within 720 calendar days.
