Weems, FAX (703) 280-8412. The Postal Service is seeking comments from
industry to a draft statement of work and is also seeking
qualification statements from firms as detailed below. We have an
urgent need to obtain approximately 1400 Flats Forwarding Terminals
(FFT) to be used in the Computer Forwarding System (CFS) operations.
The requirement will include: installation of these 1400 systems;
approximately 1,800,000,000 labels; spare parts; technical data
package; software/firmware; and training. A draft Statement of Work is
available for review and/or comment by industry. Anyone interested in
obtaining the draft SOW should write or telefax a request by April 19,
1996. We are seeking qualification statements from only those firms who
can adequately demonstrate the following capabilities: ability to
manufacture repositionable linerless labels meeting USPS requirements;
ability to manufacture and assemble the FFTs; large scale deployment
experience and capabilities; experience with designing systems with
printers and label applicators; ability to program PCs and firmware;
training capability; USPS automation experience; experience in the CFS
operation; good performance on past USPS contracts. Only those firms
who are determined to be qualified will be considered for any resulting
contracts. Interested firms should prepare a summary of their
qualifications, not to exceed twenty (20) pages, which must demonstrate
that they possess the capabilities described above. The qualification
statement and comments on the draft SOW must be submitted to the
