Defense L.P., Armament Systems Division, under Prime Contract
DAAE30-95-C-0009, is the prime contractor for the development of the
Crusader System, a new self-propelled Howitzer and re-supply vehicle.
The contract is funded, awarded, and under way. United Defense is
soliciting literature and documentation as a Request For Information
(RFI) for an Ada 95 cross compiler and an operating system for the
potential embedded target environment of the Crusader. The intent of
the RFI is to determine the availability of products to support the
requirements of the Crusader program. United Defense L.P. will use the
responses to this RFI in support of future solicitations regarding the
cross compiler and operating system. Only products that support at
least one of the following processor families will be considered: MIPS,
PowerPC, SPARC, I960, 680x0, x86/Pentium. Potential suppliers shall
provide the current released product names, descriptions of validated
Ada 95 cross compilers, and required hardware/platform/OS that will
support Ada 95. Products shall have cross debugger capability,
integrate with the Rational Apex development environment, and are
required to support Annex B Interface to Other Languages, Annex C
system Programming, Annex D Real-Time Systems. Support of or plans to
support Annex E Distributed Systems shall also be provided. Information
relating to support for mixed language (e.g. C/C++ or Fortran)
development should be provided. Potential suppliers shall provide the
current released product names, descriptions of real-time operating
systems, and required hardware/platform. Products should be POSIX
compliant and have X window support. Potential suppliers shall furnish
information related to graphical user interface development tools
which support their operating systems. Documentation on POSIX
compliance shall be provided. Product information supplied by potential
operating system suppliers should also include other middleware tools
and services that are available that support inter-process
communication, real-time databases, and device drivers. Due to the
relationship/dependencies between the cross compiler and the operating
system, responses containing integrated solutions only are requested.
Product information shall include schedules of revision release dates,
pricing for product licenses, and maintenance support. Potential
suppliers shall submit information about customization services and
available support services including descriptions, on-site technical
support, toll-free phone service, and on-line help through the Internet
or modem. Potential suppliers are required to include a list of
currently installed sites that involved a large software development
effort including references, telephone numbers, and contacts. Include
five (5) copies of the information identified above. Responses shall be
submitted no later than 30 April 1996. (100) Loren Data Corp. http://www.ld.com (SYN# 0225 19960415\70-0002.SOL)
