The Postal Service is soliciting for offers for the Battery Room Expansion at the San Mateo, CA Information Service Center. This is a owned facility. The Uninterruptable Power Source at the Information Service Center is currently composed of two separate 18 cell battery strings located in the Battery Room. This project involves replacing the existing cells and adding a new 188 cell battery string, with new racks and connections. Estimated construction cost is $200,000 to $300,000. Responsible firms with excellent experience and qualifications are invited to obtain a solicitation package. Request for the solicitation must be in writing - no telephone request will be accepted. There is a non-refundable charge of $25.00 for plans and specifications made payable to ''USPS Disbursing Officer''. Determination of Responsibility will be based on the following factors: (a) Demonstrated track record of successful performance on similar contracts in the last 5 years, (b) Adequate financial strength and resources, (c) Proximity of the home office to the area being served, (d) Contractor must be able to perform on the site, with its own organization, work equivalent to at least 12 percent of the total amount of work to be performed under the contract. There will be a preproposal conference on April 29, 1996 at 11:00 at the San Mateo ICS, 2700 Campus Drive, San Mateo, CA (meet in lobby). After meeting the above qualification standards, award will be made to the responsible firm based on price and price related factors. Offers will not be publicly opened. Offerors are encouraged to submit proposals via U S Postal Service First Class or Express Mail.
