ARSENAL SHIP PROGRAM (SN96-08) - The Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) and the Navy have agreed to the joint execution of a technology development and demonstration program leading to a prototype Arsenal Ship and follow-on production ships. It has been determined that this program will be executed under the authority of Section 845 of P.L. 103-160. A goal of this program will be to radically reduce the time and cost of ship development. The program will provide broad latitude to industry in developing the Arsenal Ship designs. An industry program briefing will be held on 2 May 1996 at the Ramada Renaissance Arlington Hotel, 950 N. Stafford Street, Arlington, VA 22203 (Ballston Metro stop). The main telephone number for the hotel is (703) 528-6000. The briefing will be unclassified and will be held from 8:30 a.m. to approximately 4:00 p.m. This briefing will address entire program strategy, systems capabilities, and CONOPS.
