(202) 707-0422. The Library of Congress has completed the design of a
Visitors' Center that will be located in the newly restored Thomas
Jefferson Building on Capitol Hill in Washington, DC. The Library is
soliciting proposals to provide timely construction, installation and
site work required for all of the casework and signage in the Visitors'
Center. The scope of this project includes custom fabrication of two
information desks, three multimedia kiosks, two cloakroom counters,
literature distribution pedestals, a visitors' orientation theater with
fourteen work benches, fabric-wrapped acoustic wall panels, projection
system housing and screen enclosure. The extensive signage package
includes freestanding etched glass panels in marble bases, bronze
engraved wall-mounted plaques and custom changeable sign panels. The
signage package may be awarded separately. Those wishing to submit
proposals will be provided with all construction/casework drawings and
specifications for materials and graphics signage. Solicitations (with
general specifications) will be issued approximately May 15, 1996 upon
written request to the contracting officer (facsimile (202) 707-8611).
Drawings and specifications will be available (upon receipt of a $100
refundable deposit) at a Pre-Proposal Conference to be scheduled
approximately May 30, 1996; to attend, contact Morgan Day (202)

the essence; The Library intends to make awards by September 30, 1996;
installation must be completed by March 31, 1997 for the re-opening of
