of 450 VMEbus boards and 350 compatible transition modules from the
MVME167, -166, -177, and the PowerPC microprocessor families of
Motorola, Inc. Items shall be ''off-the-shelf'' with all features and
benefits associated with the manufacturer's commercial items. Specific
make and model items are to be ordered, as required, over a five-year
period. Minimum salient features of boards and transition modules: a)
they provide fullest compatibility with the Wind River VxWorks
operating system on which mission-critical, non-commercial software
(developed for, and currently utilized at sea, by the fleet) is
dependent for full function and b) they are compatible with existing
shipboard computers which utilize the software. The items will be
utilized by research labs at NSWCDD to analyze data captured and
generated by the fleet and to refine the software. In order that data
can be analyzed and variables affecting interpretation of the data are
minimized, the Government requires the labs to utilize
hardware/software suites which match operational fleet configurations.
