Morris, Contracting Officer, (816)426-7267 extension 234 The National Weather Service (NWS) plans to issue solicitations to perform the augmentation of the Automated Surface Observing System (ASOS), backup of essential elements of the ASOS, and evaluate the representativeness of ASOS at the National Weather Service Offices located at Rochester, Minnesota and Waterloo, Iowa. The Contractor will be required to provide NWS certified ASOS cooperators to augment and backup essential elements of ASOS on a continuous basis, 24-hours daily. The augmenter program consists of manually adding data to an automated surface weather observation that are beyond the observing capability of ASOS. The backup program consists of evaluating and reporting data normally evaluated and reported by ASOS. The anticipated basic performance period on both solicitations is August 1, 1996 through September 30, 1996 with two consecutive twelve-month option periods. The Government may award a longer basic contract period contingent upon the availability of funds. Solicitations will be issued on or about May 20, 1996. This is a total small business set-aside.
