This is a combined synopsis/solicitation for a commercial item prepared in accordance with the format in Subpart 12.6, as supplemented with additional information included in this notice. This announcement constitutes the only solicitation; proposals are being requested and a written solicitation will not be issued. Solicitation no. F08650-96-R-A022 is issued as a Request for Proposal. The solicitation document and incorporated provisions and clauses are those in effect thru Federal Acquisition Circular 90-37 and thru Defense Acquisition Circular 91-9. This procurement is open to all responsible sources. The Standard Industrial Classification code is 3357 and business size standard is 1,000 employees. This requirement is for a fixed-price contract for two line items. Line Item 0001: Quantity - 2,500 MR; Item description - Fiber optic cable, 36-single mode, loose tube, filled core, non-metallic strength member, used for communication equipment. Line Item 0002: Quantity - 16,097 MR; Item description - Fiber optic cable, 72-single mode, filled core, loose tube, non-metallic strength member, used for communication equipment. Required delivery date is 30 days after award of contract with acceptance and FOB at destination. Delivery will be to the Transportation Officer, Bldg 310 (between 7:30 AM-3:30 PM), Patrick AFB, FL 32925-5270. Any contract awarded as a result of this solicitation will be a DO rated order certified for national defense use under the Defense Priorities and Allocations System (DPAS) (15 CFR 700). The government intends to make a single award to the responsible offeror whose offer is the most advantageous to the government considering price and price-related factors.
