66 -- MODIFICATION OF A TI-SA LASER TO PROVIDE A PROOF OF PRINCIPLE MEASUREMENT OF GLOW DISCHARGE RESONANCE IONIZATION MASS SPECTROMETRY ON CALCIUM SOL 52SBNB6C9127 DUE 061096 POC Keith Kennedy (301) 975-6325/Contracting Officer, Phyllis Bower (301) 975-6336 The National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) intends to purchase on a sole source basis from Coherent Laser Group, Germantown, MD, one (1) modification of a Ti-Sa Laser for the specific purpose of providing a proof-of-principle measurement glow discharge resonance-ionization-mass spectrometry (GDRIMS) on calcium, in the constant wave length (cw) mode. The laser will permit the frequency stabilization of linewidths less than 500 k Hz RMS. A single reference cavity and ancillary optics provide the error signal to stabilize the cavity length of the 899-21 and by high-frequency corrections to the Vertex Brewster Plate and by high-frequency corrections to a PZT-mounted fold mirror. The modification is unique to the laser system and has the specific purpose of performing this particular crucial experiment. No solicitation is available.
