Information Only. There is no solicitation package available. Request
for Information regarding all types of alternate fuels. The US Navy and
Marine Corps operate many thousands of powered and self propelled
equipment items used in support of aircraft operations, both landbased
and shipboard around the world. Most all of these items are currently
powered by diesel powerplants and diesel fuels. The Naval Air Warfare
Cnter Aircraft Division is currently undertaking a major study to
determine the best future engine and fuel option for the future
inventory of aviation support equipment. Information is desired, but
should not be limited to, the following alternative fuels: Reformulated
Diesel Fuels; Diesel Fuel Additives; Alcohol Fuels (Ethanol/Methanol);
Natural Gas; Hydrogen; Hythane; Reformulated Gasoline (Octane);
Gasoline Additives; Synthetic Fuels; Others. For each fuel discussed
the following information, at a minimum, is desired: Fuel Formulation;
fuel source(s); fuel chemical and physical properties; fuel energy
content; fuel reaction products (especially those that contribute to
air and other forms of pollution); current and projected national and
worldwide supplies and consumption; current and projected national and
worldwide in-place infrastructure; contribution to pollution emissions
reductions; powerplant types that fuel can be used in; powerplant types
that fuel has been demonstrated in; current and projected fuel cost;
hazardous material issues; current and projected storage methods;
research papers; demonstration project reports; any other pertinent
information. The above areas are not exclusive and any information or
any other method is welcome. It is requested that information be
submitted no later than 30 May 1996 to Ms. Barbara Petrzilka, Naval Air
Warfare Center Aircraft Division (Code 213000B129-2), Highway 547,
Lakehurst, NJ 08733-5082, who may be reached at (908) 323-2067.
Respondents are notified that a formal solicitation may not necessarily
result from the RFI. Any comments provided may or may not be included
in a formal solicitation. The Government will not pay for any
information received in response to this RFI nor will the Government
compensate any respondent for any costs incurred in developing the
information provided to the Government. The Government will not release
any information marked with a Proprietary legend, received in response
to this RFI, to any firms, agencies, or individuals outside the
