A -- THE ASSOCIATION FOR WOMEN IN SCIENCE (AWIS) REGISTRY OF WOMEN IN SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY POC Mrs. L. Beth DeHaemers, ONR 252 (703) 696-5639. The Office of Naval Research (ONR) has a requirement for the development of a multi-disciplinary database registry of women in science and technology. The database will be used by ONR to identify qualified women to fill positions for boards of visitors, review panels, committees, and symposia speakers. It is anticipated that sole source negotiations will be conducted with The Association For Women In Science (AWIS), 1522 K. Street NW, Suite 820, Washington, D.C. 20005. This association is uniquely qualified to perform this effort since it is the only organization in the United States that is composed almost exclusively of professional women scientists and engineers. AWIS has a base of over 5000 members in more than 25 countries and in every geographic region of the country. AWIS also has close working relationships with academic institutions, industry and other professional scientific organizations in order to develop an extensive and up-to-date directory of qualified women in deversified fields of technology.
