B -- ANALYSIS OF PHYSICAL OCEANOGRAPHIC DATA OBTAINED IN THE SANTA MONICA-SAN PEDRO BASIN SOL 3819. The Department of the Interior, Minerals Management Service, intends to acquire services from the University of Washington to be negotiated on a sole-source basis. The services to be provided include processing, analysis, and interpretation of data previously collected by the University of Washington under another Federal contract. Funding under that contract was prematurely discontinued before all data collected could be processed. The University of Washington's staff is considered to be uniquely qualified to perform these services by virtue of their corporate knowledge of the data in question, previous experience in processing part of the collection of data and subsequently presenting the results in professional journals and at professional meetings, and the cost savings which would be realized by using a contractor who is at a higher point on the learning curve for the work being performed than a new contractor would be. This contract will be justified under 40 U.S. C. 22304 (c) (1). Any communications regarding this procurement must be in writing and must adhere to the terms of NUMBERED Note 22.
