Appel, (301) 227-2295, Fax (301) 227-2218 The Defense Mapping Agency, (DMA) intends to procure screen capable format scanner(s). Quantity +2. This will be a Brand Name or equal procurement (commercial item). Identified brand names: ESKOFOT (Eskoscan 2636S) and CREO (ScanMaster). Resultant contract will also include operator training, manuals, one year maintenance and warranty. Prominent salient characteristics: The scanner shall have the ability to scan and digitally capture black-and-white and color continuous tone and half-tone film negatives and positives in either reflective or transmissive mode scanning and shall be able to scan and digitally capture black-and-white and color paper originals in the reflective mode. Scanner shall be capable of scanning original material of 24 inches x 32 inches in width and length and 7-mil thickness. Material to be scanned includes text, line work, half-tone screens, area patterns, symbols, and continuous tone images. The Scanner shall be able to produce industry standard TIFF or EPS files, compress 1-bit TIFF Files using the CCITT Group 4 compression algorithm, produce files at resolution of 400-2400 dots per inch (dpi), and have an accuracy of at least +/- 1/4 of a half-tone dot at all screen frequencies and percentages used by DMA. The scanner shall have pin registration for material to be scanned or have a system that allows software-based autoregistration using features found on the originals. The scanner system shall have the ability to scan seven (7) 24 inch x 32 inch pieces of film at 1200 dpi in one hour or less of scanner time. The contractor shall install the system at DMA, St. Louis, MO., and provide operator and maintenance training. Delivery shall include operator manuals, 1 year maintenance and warranty.
