SOLICITATION NOTICE OF CONVERSION OF 9D PATIENT CARE UNIT TO A LABORATORY, 9TH FLOOR, D WING, NIH, BETHESDA, MD. Work shall be inclusive of, but not limited to the following: Construction to occur in rooms of 9D space as delineated in the construction document, and the roof. Demolition includes drywall, drop ceilings, casework, mechanical and electrical equipment, associated wiring and piping. Since this unit was upgraded three years ago, no additional asbestos is expected. Work includes construction of 736 square meters (7,920 square feet) of carpentry, new case work, mechanical and electrical including installation of bus way, air supply, exhaust system, sound attenuation, cooling equipment, support piping and wiring to make the space a laboratory unit. Also included is procurement and installation of two exhaust fans on the roof of the tenth floor, Building 10 roof. Contract performance period will be 270 calendar days from Notice to Proceed. The magnitude of this fixed-price construction contract is estimated to be between $1,000,000 and $5,000,000. Date for obtaining plans and specifications will appear in the CBD Solicitation Notice. The Standard Industry Code (SIC) for this project is (1542). This is a metric job. Plans and Specifications will be available on or about May 14, 1996 from the Bid Custodian, 9000 Rockville Pike, Building 13, Room G-800, Bethesda, Maryland at a non-refundable cost of $50.00. Payment must be in the form of Cashier's check, Money Order or Certified check only. Checks shall be made payable to the National Institutes of Health. A letter on company letterhead must be enclosed indicating the address to which all agenda and communications should be transmitted. Request for the IFB must cite the IFB no. 263-96-B(CD)-0225. Telephone requests will not be accepted. The Pre-Bid Conference/Site Visit will be held on May 28, 1996, at 1:00 p.m. on the NIH campus in Building 13, Room G-800. Bids will be due on June 14, 1996, 2:00 p.m. Further information concerning the bid opening will be noted in the IFB. The Standard Industry Code (SIC) for this project is 1542. All responsible sources may submit a bid which will be considered. This project is a total small business set aside. This is a firm fixed price contract. This project includes 7 options as outlined on the cover sheet of plans and further discussed in the book of specifications. The Contractor shall provide a bid for each option. However, the lowest bid shall be determind based on the aggregate amount, and not the base bid alone. The Government reserves the right to adopt any number of options up to 60 days after the Notice to Proceed is issued. (0116)
