Head Start Bureau of the Administration for Children and Families
requires the services of a contractor to conduct symposia and other
research activities and research support which promote Head Start's
leadership role in the field of early childhood and families and its
interaction and partnership with the academic community. This project
will be conducted in five 12-month phases with an anticipated period of
performance of 60 months. Responsibilities of the contractor shall be
as follows: (1) Conduct symposia; (2) convene focus groups or
workgroups on emerging research and methodological issues; (3) conduct
reanalyses of existing databases; (4) conduct literature review,
research syntheses, and meta-analyses on specific research topics; (5)
update Head Start annotated bibliographies and maintain Head Start
Research Library; (6) solicit new Head Start reviewers and consultants
and maintain consultant files; (7) provide logistic support for Head
Start grantee meetings; (8) coordinate and provide logistical support
for the Consortium of Local Early Head Start Research Grantees; and (9)
provide assistance for research proposal reviews. The solicitation will
be issued on or about May 24, 1996 as RFP 105-96-1599. All requests for
the RFP must be in writing. No telephone requests will be honored. This
