Garrison, Contracting Officer 907/463-2441. Provide all materials, equipment, transportation and perform labor for the remodeling of approximately 1700 square feet of office space. The existing space is primarily unfinished, though a small amount of demolition to finish spaces will be required. Work includes, but is not limited to architectural work consisting of wood stud walls, wood doors and hollow metal frames, suspended acoustical ceiling, carpeting, sheet vinyl, painting; mechanical work consisting of minor HVAC ductwork, plumbing work for shower, water closet, clothes washer, and three (3) sinks; electrical work consisting of lighting, convenience outlets, and telephone wiring. Work is located at U. S. Coast Guard Marine Safety Detachment, Dutch Harbor, Alaska. Solicitation to be issued on or about May 16, 1996. Estimated cost range for this contract is between $100,000 and $250,000. The time for completion is sixty (60) calendar days after receipt of award of contract. Award is subject to the availability of funds. All responsible sources may submit a bid which shall be considered by the U. S. Coast Guard. Requests for bid documents must be submitted and received by this office not later than May 15, 1996. This procurement is being issued pursuant to the Small Business Competitiveness Demonstration Program. For Minority, Women-Owned and Disadvantaged Business Enterprises: The Department of Transportation (DOT), Office of Small and Disadvantaged Business utilization (OSDBU), has programs to assist minority, women-owned and disadvantaged business enterprises to acquire short term working capital and bonding assistance for transportation-related contracts. This is applicable to any eligible prime or subcontract at any tier. The DOT Bonding Assistance Program enables firms to apply for bid, performance and payment bonds up to $1.0 million per contract. The DOT provides an 80% guaranty on the bond amount to a surety against losses. Loans are available under the DOT Short Term Lending Program (STLP) at prime interest rates to provide accounts receivable financing. The maximum line of credit is $500,000.
