Smith, Jr.,816/926-7899 Pre-Invitation Notice for Building Renovation and New Parking Garage, United States Courthouse, 401 N. Market, Wichita, KS. Job PCN NKS92001. IFB o/a 05/28/96. Estimated Cost Range: $5,000,000-$10,000,000. Time for completion: 570 calendar days after receipt of notice to proceed. No document charge or deposit is required. Project involves: Provide all labor and materials for a new underground parking garage, parking lot replacement, and upgrade/renovation of interior space in the existing courthouse building. Portions of the building to receive upgrade/renovation will include replacement or alteration of walls, finishes, mechanical systems and electrical systems in office spaces, court related areas, and the Marshal's detention space. Work aspects of particular note include structural alteration to remove two building columns, new fire main and fire protection system, limited asbestos abatement, and specialty work related to restoration of historical ceilings and finishes. Alternates: Alternate No. 1: Historic restoration of the second floor courtroom. Alternate No. 2: Historic restoration of the fourth floor courtroom. Alternate No. 3: Replace corridor light fixtures with historically sympathetic fixtures on the first, second, third and fourth floors. Alternate No. 4: Cleaning and sealing of the marble throughout the building. Alternate No. 5: Provide Indiana limestone in lieu of cast stone on the parking garage ramp and the parking garage stair tower. Options: Option No. 1: Interim maintenance of elevator (maintenance during construction). Option No. 2: Full maintenance service for the elevator during 12 month guarantee period. Special competencies (Qualifications to be furnished to the Contracting Officer for approval prior to award of the contract) for asbestos abatement, elevator and membrane roofing work. Any contractor or subcontractor performing asbestos or other hazardous material work shall satisfy special responsibility and shall provide bodily injury liability insurance coverage written on the comprehensive form of policy of at least $1,000,000 per occurrence. Such coverage must encompass liabilities arising from work with hazardous materials involved. The Government will not indemnify against such risks.
