D -- DIGITAL IMAGES FROM ORIGINAL DOCUMENTS/TEXT CONVERSION AND SGML- ENCODING SOL RFP96-18 DUE 071196 POC Helen S. Mathura, Contracting Officer, 202-707-8609. The Library of Congress (LC) has a requirement to digitize portions of original books and manuscripts in order to permit the dissemination of its content online as a part of the National Digital Library Program. The solicitation is divided into two (2) LOT's. LOT 1 includes scanning images of standard-size bound and unbound materials as well as the conversion and SGML-encoding (in accordance with the Library's DTD) of a portion of the digital images to machine-readable texts. LOT 2 includes the scanning of large and fragile bound materials. The scanned images and converted texts shall also be logically named and/or numbered and delivered on write-once CD-ROM disks. An indefinite quantity task order contract with a base year and four (4) option years is anticipated. A preproposal conference shall be held on June 5, 1996.
