interior rehabilitation of USCG spaces in Bldg 68, Pier Two, NETC,
Newport, RI (Newport County). Work will be in a 12000 sf portion of an
80000 sf building, including conversion of a 4000 sf machine shop into
administrative office space. Work includes installation of new bathroom
facilities, HVAC and plumbing systems, and modifications to the
electrical and fire protection systems. Also, electrical, ventilation
and architectural modifications to an adjacent 8000 sf shop facility
and incidental related work. Bldg is located on a 1500' x 200' concrete
pier. Project includes optional bid items for: new acoustical ceiling
system in admin area; carpeting in admin area; and, sink w/cabinet base
and water cooler for admin area. The estimated cost of this project is
between $100,000 and $250,000. SIC code is 1541. Performance time is
120 calendar days from receipt of NTP. Solicitation Packages to be
available on or about May 20, 1996. Packages may be obtained by
submitting a written request, with a non-refundable check for $20

Small Business Competitiveness Demonstration Program, and is

Transportation (DOT) Office of Small and Disadvantaged Business
Utilization (OSDBU) has programs to assist minority, women-owned and
disadvantaged business enterprises to acquire short-term working
capital and bonding assistance for transportation-related contracts.
This is applicable to any eligible prime or subcontract at any tier.
The DOT Bonding Assistance Program enables firms to apply for bid,
payment and performance bonds up to $1.0 million per contract. The DOT
provides an 80% guaranty on the bond amount to a surety against
losses. Loans are available under the DOT Short-term Lending Program
(STLP) at prime interest rates to provide accounts receivable
financing. The max. line of credit is $500,000. For further information
